Shelters & rescue

AI receptionist for animal shelters with more calls than staff.

Intake, found-pet, volunteer, and adoption all share one line. Aveline sorts them, answers what it can, and texts the right person when a human has to step in.

One number, four different jobs

A shelter phone is not a clinic phone and not a salon phone. In the same hour you might get a stray at the back gate, a volunteer asking about Saturday, an adoption follow-up, and someone who thinks you are animal control. The desk is often one person, or a volunteer who already has a kennel cart.

Voicemail treats all of that as equal. It is not. A found-pet call after closing should not wait until morning next to a “what are your adoption hours?” message. Aveline uses the rules you approve: hours, intake process, foster contacts, and when to transfer to a supervisor or on-call lead.

We set it up on the number the public already has. Live in 3–5 days. $497 a month, depending on call volume, no contract. The same receptionist 80+ local businesses use — trained for a mixed inbound line instead of a single appointment type.

What Aveline can take off the desk

  • Adoption hours, visiting rules, and “do you have a small dog?” — answered from your current listing rules, or routed if you do not want availability quoted.
  • Volunteer shifts and orientation — scheduled or logged on the Google Calendar or Outlook the coordinator already uses, then texted.
  • Owner surrender / intake — collected with the questions you require, then flagged as intake, not buried in a general mailbox.
  • After-hours stray or injured animal — transferred or directed to the emergency path you name (on-call, police non-emergency, partner clinic).

Most shelters are not on a veterinary PMS. Volunteer shifts and intake holds land on Google Calendar or Outlook, plus a text to whoever you name. We do not assume you run kennel or clinic software.

Aveline is not animal control and will not pretend to be. If your policy is “call 911 for an animal in traffic,” that is the script. If a medical emergency should go to a partner clinic, we point there. For the mix of volunteer and intake traffic, see shelter volunteer and intake calls.

Rescue groups without a building still get the same product: one line that does not dump everything on a personal cell. Other local businesses remain welcome on the trades page.

Questions from shelter leads

Can it tell intake apart from adoption?

Yes. Those are different scripts and different texts. You decide who gets which notification.

Do we need a PMS or kennel software?

No. Most shelters are not on one. Volunteer and intake bookings go to Google Calendar or Outlook, and you get a text. We do not assume you run clinic or kennel software.

We are a nonprofit. Is this only for clinics?

No. Aveline is focused on animal care, including shelters and rescue. Pricing is still $497 a month depending on call volume. Tell us on the contact form.

What if someone reports a cruelty or emergency?

You set the path: transfer, on-call, or a specific agency number. Aveline will not handle that as a casual callback.
